Te Manawa Family Services is a space for the heart. A space of equity, safety and respect for all.
Founded in Feilding in 2000, Te Manawa Family Services was established with the encouragement and support of Women’s Refuge, NZ Police, Safer Manawatu, Department of Corrections, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Social Development and Te Kupenga Whakaoti Mahi Patunga: The National Network of Family Violence Services in Feilding.
This has remained our core focus.
Connecting, nurturing and valuing families to grow the mana and wellbeing of our community.
Te Manawa Family Services is a specialist family violence organisation, providing wrap-around support to the whole whānau.
Our mission is to develop understanding and commitment to healthy and respectful relationships through the delivery of high quality programmes and support services. We want to end violence and to promote non-violence and equality within Aotearoa. To do this, we ensure our work promotes safety, equality and respect for all people.
Our Partnerships
Collaborating for long-term change in our communities
We collaborate with other community agencies and groups to enable effective intervention that will ensure the best outcomes for those we are supporting.
Te Manawa Family Services is an accredited Specialist Family Violence Service Provider. We work in partnership with the Ministry of Justice, Department of Corrections, Ministry of Social Development, Oranga Tamariki, as well as Manawatu District Council, Palmerston North City Council and Lottery Community. We are committed to the work of stopping violence and hold the safety and wellbeing of individuals, especially children, as paramount.
We serve two local areas:
Our Guiding Values
Te Manawa Family Services Charitable Trust is committed to operating in a manner that recognises the Treaty of Waitangi and recognises te iwi o Ngāti Kauwhata, Rangitāne and Ngāti Raukawa as nga tangata whenua rangatiratanga, o tenei rohe.
At the core of our service are the principles of accountability and responsibility. We believe that these principles are reflected throughout all our agency structures, practices, policies and procedures – from Governance right through to programme and service delivery. These principles underpin and shape the messages that we promote, and the delivery and outcomes sought, through all our Stopping Violence programmes and Services and our accountability to victims of domestic violence.
